S3 + Parquet for Cold Storage

Why is Parquet preferred over JSON-lines for cold storage of scraped data?

• AJSON-lines isn't supported by S3
• BParquet is columnar and compressed: typically 5–10x smaller and lets engines read only the columns/files needed
• CParquet is human-readable for easier debugging
• DJSON-lines requires a license
